Studio William | Planting Trees

Planting Trees and improving ecosystems

Our ranges we name each range of cutlery after a type of tree - because every tree has its own unique form. Sometimes a tree has directly inspired our design. Sometimes we see aspects of a tree reflected in our design.

The Studio William team wanted to find an additional way to work with trees. In this day and age of deforestation and harvesting of ancient timbers, beautiful forests are regularly being destroyed. We decided that we wanted to help support a charity that planted new trees and chose The International Tree Foundation for their international activities.

For every £200.00 spent by our customers in the shopping basket "sub-total", we will donate £2.50 (£2.50 is enough money to plant one tree, so £400.00 will help plant two trees!), the ITF have the following tree plantation projects running this year which the money will go towards: East, Central and the Horn of Africa.

THE INTERNATIONAL TREE FOUNDATION At ITF we seek to achieve our vision through planting, protecting and promoting trees around the world in partnership with local communities. We focus on three main areas of impact:

Poverty alleviation enhanced livelihoods through sustainable use of forests and forest products.

Biodiversity conservation protection and restoration of trees and forests particularly where they form a critical feature of a threatened ecosystem.

Environmental justice empowerment and education of communities with emphasis on the young, vulnerable and marginalised.

The projects we support primarily involve planting trees that provide food and income for local people; in many cases this simultaneously addresses environmental issues such as habitat restoration. There are often also fundamental rights issues involved such as access to ancestral land. The International Tree Foundation (ITF) is a UK registered non-governmental organisation (NGO), it is one of the oldest established forestry organisations in the UK, having originally been set up in 1924. Our Patron is His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales.

"A world where trees and forests flourish and where their vital role in supporting life on earth is fully realised and valued." ITF.
