It is said that Indian Prince Siddhartha, over 2,600 years ago was looking for a deeper truth and he meditated under the tree for six years seeking enlightenment. After he found the 'ultimate and unconditional truth', he became Buddha 'The Enlightened One'. As the tree gave him shelter and strength, the tree became know as 'the tree of enlightenment'.
